Met this hottie over the summer in New York through a friend, not only is she beautiful and has one of the most positive personalities I've ever encountered, she's an amazing artist. Ilene, better known as I.Q. [lol heard she has intelligence to go with her smart mouth] Born in East L.A., I.Q. is now living in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY. Her day job includes, freelance graphic design, storyboard art, and creating murals. She attended Parsons School of Design for Illustration and has been drawing ever since she was a kid. What makes it even better is, being a female [a very hot female at that] in a pretty much male-dominated field of street art. Her work includes graphic design, illustration, murals, paintings, and the list goes on.

So, I don't have too much to say about this project because there's no other words necesssary to say than 'amazing'. Every aspect from the lyrics to the instrumentals were honed practically to perfection. It hasn't been too much change since their last album, but that's exactly what makes them a classic group. What is noticeable in this album is that most of their tracks have a more upbeat and fresh sound compared to their past albums. But, what has kept their longevity going for so long is the immense support from their fans who really support and love their music. I personally recommend this album to everyone if you want to hear a true production of hip-hop. Two thumbs up...

There's more to a person than meets the eye, especially in Ines Ware's case. While she may have charisma, style, and not to mention, she's cute as a button, this girl knows that there's more to life than deciding which club to go to Friday night. Hailing from Durham, NC by way of New Jersey, she is majoring in Environmental Studies and Political Science [yeaaah, she's not playing]. She's currently in DC, interning at 1Sky, a non-profit organization advocating for climate policies to stop pollution in the environment. Since the BP disaster, her blog [Concrete Jungle] has been the go-to site to keep up with its happenings and her views on it all. She has had a passion for the environment much before the disaster and is on a mission to bring change and awareness, one post at a time.

What inspired you to become an advocate for the environment?

My uncle worked for the EPA until retirement in Jersey. I remember him having a bunch of recycling bins and I asked him what they were for. That's when he told me about recycling. He also lived right in front of the Hudson River which is super polluted and he told me about how bad pollution is for the environment and how we should take care of it. So, I assume that's what pretty much inspired me to be such a "tree hugger". Oh and of course "Captain Planet". He's my hero, we're going to take pollution down to a zero. =)

Do you think the government is doing enough to protect the environment?

Of course not. The government has the power to do a lot for the environment and they don't. I really feel as if they only do the minimum just to keep the environmental activist quiet. They have the power to take all the cars off of the street and replace them with Hybrids, enforce stricter environmental laws and really move forward with alternative energy. But so far, all of our presidents are only interested in getting rich quick with the dirtiest energy resource, oil. However, Obama is trying to give the EPA more power and rule over how we treat the environment so, I hope that goes well. We missed out on Al Gore. He advocates for climate change focusing on global warming.

Let's take it back to elementary school quickly, what do you want to be when you grow up?

My ULTIMATE career goal is to become an administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency which is a government sector. Until then, my goal is to fulfill my purpose in life which is to make a difference in cleaning up the environment all around the world.

Do you feel that people, specifically young people/ know enough about the current state of our environment?

I always say, "If you knew better, you'd do better". So no, people, especially young people really do not know what is going on with the environment. They don't know that the US has cut down 90% of their natural forests. They don't know that 70 countries have lost their forests due to deforestation. Most young people don't even know that we NEED trees to survive because they give us oxygen to breathe. The oil spill is just the tip of the iceberg on everything that's going on in the world. Gas companies are always having oil spills, but people who aren't interested don't know. So I don't blame people for being oblivious to what is going on in the environment because they simply don't know. Environmental education isn't mandatory in any school. That's what my blog is for. To open the eyes of my age group and show them and teach them about the world around us and that we need to protect it because ultimately, this planet is all that we have.

The oil spill is probably one of the biggest man-made environmental catastrophes that's occurred in our recent times, for those who aren't too familiar with the details of it, could you give us background information as to how and why it

has become such a catastrophe?

The oil spill is such a big deal because of the massive amounts of oil being spill, the number of wildlife being killed and of course, oil washing up on the beaches. Like I said, oil spill happen too often for comfort but they are never as huge as this oil spill. The Gulf of Mexico oil spill surpassed the Exxon Valdez oil spill of 1989 being that now, there has been millions of gallons of oil being spewed into our ocean. The world is already making its way to a clean water shortage so this did not help at all. And also, with this massive oil spill, environmental activists are using it as a platform to say, "You see?! THIS is why we do NOT need offshore drilling". The ban of offshore drilling has been lifted along the east coast down to Alaska. This is bad news because the east coast shores are fragile so therefore, they will be more prone to oil spills of this size. Meaning beaches such as the Jersey shore, Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach down to Miami Beach will be at risk of oil spill which could taint the waters and wash up oil on the shore.

What do you hope for the world's environment and for the world to do to save it?

I just hope people educate themselves and realize this planet is not just for them to, for a lack of a better word, shxt on. Just like you have to take care of your home, you have to take care of the planet. How we use the planet will determine how the planet takes care of us. People should simply be more environmentally conscious. Recycle, don't be too "saditty" to take public transportation or ride a bike places, NEVER pollute and liter. It's never been a question of saving the planet or saving the environment. It's more like saving us from ourselves. The planet will always be here, we won't.

PHRESH MENTALITY: I could ask why you decided to take photography and what inspires, but everyone would ask that? For starters, I have a fascination with the art of nudity, and it is quite interesting to see different artist portray this visual and apply a concept without it feeling like I'm watching a five dollar porno. You did a shoot entitled 'Bathroom', where did this idea stem from and working with the models used what was the atmosphere like during the shoot?
-Actually, when I was young I wanted to be a vet or a zoologist. I used to watch documentaries constantly (and still do). When I was getting ready for the Turkish equivalent of the SATs, I started thinking about photography and made my mother buy me a camera. I took photos constantly and passed the arts exam done by the art schools. It was very much a coincidence; I only started doing decent work after I started studying at my university.
For the Bathroom series, my inspiration was more of a curiosity. I was wondering what people we see every day were like in the privacy and comfort of their own bathrooms and I thought this would be a good chance to catch spontaneous photographs. I did all the shooting at people's individual bathrooms and told them to forget I was even there. I wanted to give the impression of peeking through the keyhole.

What was your first camera, and where do you plan on taking your photography?
Canon eos 400d. I started shooting with a digital camera; and I took a lot of pictures. Later, I decided that "quality is more important than quantity." So I bought a mamiya rb 67. I walked around with a 10 pound camera around my neck and did shoots. The analog-like results are, to me, more lively and real.
I would love to make my projects into a book; either just for me or a professional book. I just want to open that hardcover and find my photos inside.

Where do you like to see your work posted, just online, in galleries, households-- or just for you own personal pleasure [aka a hobby]
Any artist would be happy to see their work at a gallery or book, of course. I take these photos for myself and as long as I'm sharing them with people, the method doesn't truly matter. But there is a huge difference between printed work and looking at a piece online, that's for sure.

How do you develop/improve your concepts? Is there a method to your shoots?
I generally start with a very simple idea. I go with it without thinking. I think I'm better at the after-shoot stage than at the preparing stage. It seems easier for me to build a concept after I've taken the photos.

What is your favorite shot to date and why?
I wouldn't call it my favorite, but it's the one I care for the most. We needed to take a macro-shot for the Large Format class I took. So I shot my favorite bonzai (which my dog later ate) and a figurine close to it in size to create a Young Prince-like effect. The colors, the depth of field, the light tones and simply the feeling it gives makes me love it so. Every now and then I'll open it up and look at it just to enjoy it.

PM: As we all have noticed, musicians and producers are becoming much younger as the end of this decade has rolled along, with access to more advanced technologies artist are able to create even more extensive work than before. What instruments or programs are you working with these days if you dont mind telling? Also, do you plan on getting any more equipment soon?
Kap1: the program i work off the most and make beats out of is Fruity Loops 9 XXL Producer Edition which is pretty much popular in the industry but people tend to degrade it at times. overall its not a bad program at all cause some of the best songs out now were most likely produced through that program. aside from the program i use a midi keyboard to come up with the melodies for most the records i'm doing. and as far equipment goes lets just im say stable right now lol. but the more money that comes in then i will sure likely invest in some new dope equipment.

PM: Are you currently producing for any particular projects?
Kap1: aside from the mixtape that im working on...
im working with various of upcoming artist in NYC and expecting to work with more as time goes. as far projects there's many things floating around me at this point but i wouldn't really want to speak about it till everything follows through. but believe me i certainly do have things on the come up and i want people to look out for it.

PM: Being so young in the field, has that impacted your ability to observe and learn? Do you inspire most from other producers/artist or just whatever comes to thought? What are your methods of production?
Kap1: my ability to observe and learn is only gaining as days and weeks and months go by cause i can listen to a song and say oh snap i could've done that and for me being still young of age and too see the big producers in the media release whatever they're releasing. it motivates to set my bar up higher and reach for something new before they can get to it. the way i work is like in a scrambled manner lol. its like one day i can be inspired by a producer or a rapper or any little thing and then the next its like a thought that came to my head and then i just let the magic happend when i end up layin' out my drum patterns and coming up with the melodies and some words for whatever it is im doing. usually when i think too hard on something it wouldn't come out the way i visualized and heard it first. so im more of the go with the flow type guy so thats one way to describe my method.

so we're downtown about to take photos for the site, and that's when we spotted her. Phantom black, 19" five-arm double-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels , 4.2 FSI® with six-speed manual transmission and quattro....lol you must think I must really know cars huh? I just know how to copy and paste :-) Anyway, so everything got quiet as she rolled slowly past us, the most beautiful vehicle I'd ever seen. I'm not a big car person, let alone a sports car person, but this vehicle is seriously a work of art. The 2010 Audi R8 is running for $115,000 and have to be custom-ordered. Audi overall has lifted the bar of design over the past couple of years and have definitely brought back a name for themselves. The best part, the lady driving it was driving like she already knew what it was. #balling

I, recently, had a chance to sit down and chat it up with the Georgia-based vocalist. After hearing some of his new material, I thought it was best to see exactly where he was headed, how he planned to get there, and who he's taking along for the ride...

What sound can we expect to hear on your upcoming album:
“It’s gonna be Urban Alternative, live instrumentation—it’s really fun. Um… I touch on serious topics that kind of… things that I go through in my life. [But] The sound is pretty much Rock with a minor influence of R&B, ya know? Feel good music… that’s what you’re gonna get.”

Do you write your own music?
“Oh yeah! I am completely involved in the production of my music. Um... Actually, I co-Produce everything that I do. I write everything, come up with arrangements, harmonies… etc. Everything I put on paper, and everything I do in the (recording) booth is written and sung by Me!”

Why do you feel it is important to do so?
“Because, music is your art. Music is a really-really extensive form of art. If you don’t take advantage of that—and I’m not saying that you can’t go and get tracks from other people but as an artist, and as someone who is a part of the craft, you need to be able to express yourself. You should be at least 70% involved in the process of creating your music.”

We all know that the music industry is known for its haunting tales of being fickle and shady… have you prepared to face that? And how?
“Oh Yeah. Um… I think my entire life has been an up and down rollercoaster version of that—I just think what you do before hand helps prepare you for that and how to react to certain situations. So, yeah, I’m completely prepared. I’m humble but I’m not naïve.”

I like to believe that there are over 100 aspiring singers born every 30 seconds, you know what I mean? What separates you and your sound from the others?
"Aside from my life experience, what separates me the most is that I’m going in a direction that not many African American males decide to go in. My first LP is going to be very conscious but at the same time it’s gonna give you a feel like ‘oh, I see what direction he’s trying to go in’. So, on my next album, I’m really gonna go in with the sound. Rock and roll, playing an electric guitar, and making everything really about the experience. I don’t see any other black guy doing that. A lot of them rely on auto-tune or a sexual image. Some even rely on the party and club thing and not saying I don’t—because I do have songs like that. It’s just the approach I’m taking is different and I don’t sound like anybody else.”

Where do you draw inspiration? Who are some of your idols?
“This is always funny. Haha! I get a little embarrassed saying this but… one of my huge influences has always been Destiny’s Child. [Laughs] I know I’m a 25 year old black male but, it’s something about their harmonies and work ethic that has inspired me to do what I do. Even today, you see that they’re all still working and on the grind. So, yeah. Other than that, I listened to a lot of Lenny Kravitz growing up, Johnny Gill, and Luther Vandross. I listened to a lot of EN Vogue, 112, and No Doubt. I used to fuck with No Doubt so hard! I remember in elementary school I bought the cassette tape and my friends used to ask ‘what is he listening to’ [Laughs] but yeah, I loved No Doubt.”

I know in an interview you’ve recently done, you talk about how creating the music is the most interesting part… what’s the most frustrating?
“Um... oh god—The most frustrating part is getting people to open up their ears and eyes to new artists. It’s so funny how you see songs that get stuck in your head, songs that are real repetitive and artists that are kind of pushed out there. And it’s really, honestly, like a push. So, people are sort of forced to like a song. [But] When you’re a new artist, you’re up and coming and grinding on your own, it’s really hard for people to hold on. When you don’t have the power to push your music out there, it can go unheard. So, it’s frustrating trying to get the correct people on board. Everything else isn’t so challenging.”

Give me 5 words to describe Jarrod and where he is in life, at this point.
“Fun. Happy; though it sounds so corny so, maybe I should say Elated. Yeah, Elated. Conscious. Sexual? [Laughs] I know that’s kind of racy but—I guess you could say that I’m sexual . I think it’s important to have a sexual side. [laughs] Five; I would say... Innovative. The reason is because I’m establishing my own sound and really putting myself out there no matter what anyone says. I think the number one step of innovation is taking control of your own destiny.”

10 years from now, where will you be?
“10 years from now, I see myself as having starred in a few Broadway plays. I see my company, Mullet emp., having artists we’ve signed. I see myself headlining my own tour and having my fans rockin’ to my music. I just see myself very happy with where I am. Some place chillin’ reflecting on how hard it was to get to where I am.”

She takes you there. Hailing from the southside of London, England, singer and songwriter Andreya Triana is setting a name for herself in the music world, one session at a time...

She's been singing since the age of 7 and began by writing poetry and recording songs hours at a time in her room. She's known for her world-famous 'Freeflo Sessions' in which she performs solo in front of an audience with nothing but a sampler, percussive sounds, and beats to join her on stage. She's worked with Flying Lotus, Fink, and Bonobo, amongst many others.

I was honestly mesmerised by her flow. I know if her music is this intriguing through speakers, I can only imagine her live performances.

Her debut album is set to be released on August 29th of this year and I'm co-signing that it will be a classic.

Nike made it official.

The Jordan VI Infrared pack is set to be released on JUNE 19TH on Nikestore.com. This will be a limited edition release but no set number on how many packs there will actually be. Some retailers are expected to carry them eventually, but they will be very limited. The Infrared Pack includes [1] pair of Black/Black-Infrared and [1] pair of White/White-Infrared.

Design student, José Luis García Eguiguren, literally understood this vodka company's marketing tactic when he designed this bottle. Using the twisty straw concept, he designed a fun and innovative bottle for Mixed Emotions Vodka. When you drink the vodka and the flavored liquid through the straw as it mixes itself together right before it hits your tongue.

José says:

"The idea of this project is to sell emotions through a product. I selected a mix between a concoction and vodka. The concoction is a fruit blend that contains emotions such as love, sadness, happiness, fear and anger. The Mixed Emotions cocktail evokes an emotion and changes your attitude according to your preference.

The spiral structure forms two straws that invite the consumer to visualize how the liquids combine as they drink. Two tiny mechanisms outline the straws to bottom of the container, allowing air to enter and hence permitting the customer to absorb the liquid. The cap provides an air-tight seal, thus enclosing all openings."

Funny how different societies operate in different parts of the world. The Norweigan government has spent 10 years and $252 million dollars [1.5 billion Norwegian Kroner] to build a jail that helps keep their prisoners content and truly rehabilitate them in prison. Halgen, is Norway's 2nd largest prison, and is far from your regular slammer. This facility includes running trails, rock climbing, a recording studio, culinary courses, and murals by graffiti artist Dolk. The individual cells include a private bathroom, flat screen TV, personal refridgerator and no-bar windows. Rather than referring the prisoners as 'inmates', they call them pupils.

In the U.S. there is a 50%-60% prisoner recidivism rate.

In Norway, there is a 20% prisoner recividism rate.

Maybe America should start taking notes...

The one thing that separates Twitter from any other social network is that Twitter invites you into the lives of others, 24 hours a day; 7 days a week. Twitter brings friends and acquaintances closer—much closer. Too close.

It’s as if our lives have merged and we are destroying and rebuilding the barriers of communication all together. –But that’s neither here nor there.

With Facebook, or even MySpace [For those who are living under a Dell—or rock, take your pick], adding someone as a friend is only a problem if you have something to hide. For instance, tagged photos of you completely wasted, stripping naked before jumping into a pool. Or, a random wall post that reads “Last night was amaaaazing—hope to see you soon xoxo” from a girl you introduced to your wife as “just a friend”. Yea, shit like that will get you caught up. However, if this doesn’t apply to you, there is really no harm.

Twitter, on the other hand, is much different.

I believe that who you follow should have absolutely nothing to do with your personal relationship with that person. I would even go on to suggest that you try and keep a relationship status out of it. Just because we’re friends doesn’t mean that I want to know how many times you can go in on a redundant ass Trending Topic.

As an early Tweeter, you get a pass for tweeting some outlandish or basic shit. —but after a few months, it gets annoying..

So, to help make things more clear, I’ve come up with 10 reasons why I Unfollowed You... Here goes:

1.) Twitter is the ultimate platform for Freedom of Speech—but only when it’s YOUR speech. You ReTweet other people so much; I’m starting to wonder if you have any thoughts of your own. There is no way your timeline should consist of Rev Run or Lil Duval back-to-back-to-back. #Unfollowed.

2.) Being an adult is tough, I’ll admit that. Some of us find refuge in video games, or animated movies—anything that can awaken our inner child. HOWEVER, TyPiiNg LiiKE ThIs && 3v3ry ChANce U q3T –is f*** ANNOYING! Unless you are a 12 year old girl (in which case I wouldn’t be following you to begin with) cut it out! Matter of fact, keep it up. #Unfollowed!

3.) Ah, behold the power of the TwitPic. With the right caption, it has potential to really make your day. –Or ruin it. With the weather heating up, we want to flaunt the summer body we’ve been slaving all spring to achieve. I can appreciate that. [BUT], what happens when you have not seen the inside of a gym since High School P.E.? Your body is disgusting and you know it! Why torture us? #Unfollowed

4.) Sometimes shorthand is best when you’re in a hurry to get your point across. Yet and still, certain rules of grammar must still apply. I don’t understand “People should mind there business” or “…Their coming over later” and neither do you. Once or twice is a common mistake. Every day? Not so much. (Also: Than vs. Then, Affect vs. Effect, Your vs. You’re)

5.) Negative Nancy & Explosive Joseph—We all have our bad days. Days when we just need to vent in order to get the anger/frustrations out of our system. That’s normal. Now, if you are experiencing a bad day, everyday… then maybe Twitter isn’t for you. Perhaps, a therapist or counselor may suit your, urgent, needs. Get offline and seek help. #Unfollowed.

6.) This is where it gets tricky. –because we all have our own unique timeline and followers, there is no way for me to tell which of your tweets are receptive to others over those that aren’t. However, a basic tweet is a basic tweet. Why are you rambling? Not venting, not stating facts, just rambling. #Unfollowed

7.) Your whole life is nothing more than one big ass #SubTweet (subliminal tweet). You throw shots every chance you get—coward. #Unfollowed

8.) “I’m sooo Drrrunnnk” –Enough said. You, my friend, get a major side eye. #Unfollowed

9.) If you’ve been on Twitter for a year, have less than 2,000 tweets, and no more than 99 Followers… You just need a journal. Twitter is not for you. #Unfollow

10.) All of your Retweets are compliments. FYI, we don’t give a fuck that @InsertNameHere loves your smile. Are you that vain? Or, maybe you aren’t really used to receiving such compliments in the first place. If that is the case, I’m starting to wonder if you are who your default says you are. Photoshop much? --things that make you go hmmm. #UNFOLLOWED!

Now, just because I unfollowed you doesn't mean we can't still be friends. Relax, it's just Twitter. lmao!
